Best New and Classic Netflix Shows for Your Personality Type

From emotional rom-coms to action-packed thrillers, there’s a perfect Netflix show for every person. Wondering what to watch next? Here are the best new and classic Netflix shows to watch based on your Myers and Briggs personality type

INFP – ‘One Day’ (2024)

Previously adapted as a movie, and based on David Nicholls’ novel of the same name, ‘One Day’ is a TV mini-series that covers the lives of Emma and Dexter across twenty years. After meeting at the University of Edinburgh, the two keep crossing paths during their adult lives, revisiting each other on the same day each year. As Idealists, INFPs will appreciate how the show examines the possibilities open to you when you finally find yourself with the right person at the right time.

INTJ – ‘Cunk on Earth’ (2023)

‘Cunk on Earth’ is a five-part series mockumentary in which the English comedian Diane Morgan plays the character of Philomena Cunk, an ill-informed television host who travels around the world asking real experts the most absurd questions about humanity’s progress. Though the tone of this show may not be for everyone, its deadpan humor will mesh well with INTJs who are unafraid of laughing at themselves.

INFJ – ‘This Is Us’ (2016-22)

‘This is Us’ is a family drama that follows the Pearsons across multiple generations, namely the parents Jack and Rebecca, and their three children: Kate, Randall, and Kevin. The episodes cut between the characters' past and present, with the triplets coming to discover a deeper meaning in their present adult lives through revelations from their parents’ past. As Intuitive Feelers, INFJs will love how the show explores the ripple effects the smallest decisions can have in our lives, and the complex bonds all families share.

INTP – ‘Young Sheldon’ (2017-present)

‘Young Sheldon’ is the prequel spinoff of ‘The Big Bang Theory' and follows the sitcom’s main character, Sheldon Cooper, during his younger years growing up in a small Texas town. We believe the deep-thinking INTPs will appreciate how the show depicts the challenges Sheldon faces as a child prodigy and socially inept kid, as well as his unwavering commitment to learning.

ENFP – ‘Insecure’ (2016-2021)

‘Insecure’ is a comedy series centered around the awkward experiences of Issa, a black woman in her late 20s who, alongside her friend Molly, navigates careers and relationships in South LA. The cheerleading-type ENFPs will empathize with Issa’s struggles as she tries to be a better person and figure out what she wants her future to look like.

ENTJ – ‘Suits’ (2011-19)

‘Suits’ is a legal drama that follows Mike Ross, a gifted college dropout who finds himself working for Harvey Specter, a notable lawyer at a top New York firm. The efficiency-driven ENTJs will enjoy seeing the strategy and complicated ethics behind winning lawsuits and how the secret of Mike never having attended law school is handled throughout the series.

ENTP – ‘BoJack Horseman’ (2014-20)

‘BoJack Horseman’ is an animated series following the life of BoJack, an anthropomorphic horse who used to be a TV star during the 80s and 90s and is now trying to make a comeback. This satire on show business may not be for everyone, but we believe ENTPs will appreciate how the series tackles mental health and other important topics through a humorous lens.

ENFJ – ‘The Wonder Years’ (2021-2023)

This coming-of-age dramedy is a remake of the sitcom of the same name that ran during the 80s and 90s. In this adaptation of the series, we follow the life of Dean, a Black middle-class kid growing up in Montgomery, Alabama, during the late 1960s. We believe ENFJs will appreciate the way the show explores race and social issues, as well as the tribulations 12-year-old Dean goes through.

ISFJ – ‘The Crown’ (2016-23)

For the loyal and protective ISFJs, we recommend the hit TV series ‘The Crown’, a historical drama that fictionalizes the lives of the British Royal Family, covering the period from Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation until the early 2000s. ISFJs will appreciate the historical detail of the production and relate to the conflict between tradition and innovation explored throughout the series.

ISFP – ‘Face Off’ (2011-18)

‘Face Off’ is a reality TV series in which special effects makeup artists compete against each other to create prostheses like the ones you find in fantasy, sci-fi and horror movies. The beauty-seeking ISFPs will enjoy the process of seeing craftspeople do their magic and getting a behind-the-scenes perspective on this subculture.

ISTJ – ‘Black Mirror’ (2011-present)

One of the most beloved sci-fi anthology series, ‘Black Mirror’ is a modern take on ‘The Twilight Zone.’ Each episode serves as social commentary on our contemporary anxieties around the impact technology, artificial intelligence, and climate change have in our lives. We believe ISTJs will like to sit through the discomfort of this show and learn from its dark cautionary tales.

ISTP – ‘Stranger Things’ (2016-present)

Set in a fictional small town in Indiana during the 1980s, ‘Stranger Things’ follows a group of teenagers fighting off extra-dimensional creatures from an alternate dimension called “the Upside-Down.” As pragmatic problem-solvers, we think ISTPs will enjoy uncovering the mystery alongside the characters - and diving into 80s nostalgia along the way!

ESFJ – ‘Outlander’ (2014-present)

Based on the “Outlander” novel series by Diana Gabaldon, this historical drama tells the story of Claire Randall, a World War II nurse in Scotland, who, inexplicably, goes back in time to 1743. There, she encounters a Highland warrior and is swept into a world of romance and rebellion. We think the warm and loyal ESFJs will adore Claire and Jamie’s time-bending love story.

ESFP – ‘Girls5eva’ (2021-present)

This comedy series follows four women, part of a one-hit-wonder band in the late 90s, who now reunite in the hopes of finding musical success again. We think ESFP Performers will be entertained by the hilarious and poignant commentary of this self-referential sitcom, and appreciate its glitter-filled fashion and musical numbers.

ESTJ – ‘Better Call Saul’ (2015-2022)

A beloved legal crime drama, ‘Better Call Saul’ is the TV prequel to “Breaking Bad.” The series follows criminal lawyer Jimmy McGill in the years before he met Walter White and Jesse Pinkman. We think ESTJs will enjoy Jimmy’s can-do attitude and how ethical dilemmas and dramatic scenes are humorously explored throughout the series.

ESTP – ‘Physical: 100’ (2023-present)

For the adrenaline-driven ESTPs, we recommend ‘Physical: 100.’ In this South Korean game show, we follow 100 men and women who compete against each other on different performance tests to find out who has the best physique. Dynamos will appreciate the tournament format of the show and the diverse challenges contestants have to face.

A night in needn't be a bore when you have the perfect TV series to match your personality type. So why not grab some popcorn and start streaming? You may just find a new favorite show!
